Privacy Policy
RailVision (“the Service”) includes the RailVision mobile app and the website at myrailvision.in. It is an independent Indian Railways journey companion. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Indian Railways, IRCTC, CRIS, or the Ministry of Railways.
Information we process
- Journey selections you enter — train number and start date, stored on your device (app) or in local browser storage (website) so tracking can refresh.
- Technical requests to our API — when the Service loads schedules, live status, weather, map tiles, or explore data, our servers receive standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, timestamps).
- Advertising identifiers (mobile) — if you allow tracking (iOS App Tracking Transparency) or if your device provides an advertising ID, Google AdMob may use it to show and measure ads. You can decline ATT on iOS and still use the app.
- Cookies and ad personalization (website) — Google AdSense may set cookies or use similar technologies to show and measure ads on the website. You can limit ad personalization in your Google account / browser settings.
- Approximate location for weather / explore — derived from railway station coordinates for the train you are tracking, not continuous GPS tracking of you.
What we do not collect
- We do not require an account for core journey tracking in v1.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not ask for PNR, passwords, or payment card details in the Service.
Third-party services
Depending on features in use, the Service or API may contact:
- Our hosting provider (Fly.io) for the RailVision API
- Public railway enquiry / timetable sources for schedules and live status
- Open-Meteo for weather
- OpenStreetMap / CARTO / Esri for basemap tiles and nearby places
- Wikipedia for station summaries when available
- Google AdMob for ads in the mobile app
- Google AdSense for ads on the website
Those services process data under their own policies. Live train information is best-effort and may be delayed or incomplete — always verify critical travel details with official Indian Railways channels.
Data retention
Journey preferences stay on your device or browser until you clear them. API logs and short-lived caches are kept only as needed to operate and secure the service, then discarded.
Children
The Service is intended for a general audience. It is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices
- Decline iOS tracking when prompted (app).
- Limit ad personalization in your device, browser, or Google settings.
- Clear the current journey from Settings / More in the app, or clear site data in the browser.
- Uninstall the app or stop using the website to remove on-device / browser data we control.
